Hi! I’m Michael, and I’m an animator and advanced doctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge.
I am fascinated by natural processes that take place at imperceptible scales. The microscopic, where single molecules interact, chemical signals are transduced, and cells decide their fate. The macroscopic, where whole worlds can hurtle through space without being felt. Time too is relative. Within our short window it is hard to imagine change that takes place over millennia, to imagine the evolution of animal form, or behaviour, or the movement of the earth beneath our feet.
This portfolio catalogues my attempts to communicate the complexity of these invisible worlds. It also includes studies in modelling, shading, animation, and rendering.
Enquiries about collaborations and commissions are welcome, preferably via email.
